Dr James Hegarty

Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

James Hegarty (he/him) is is a leader in his field, with special interests in professional supervision, sports psychology and mindfulness-based therapies. ​James works with those in high-demand roles looking to enhance their performance or wellbeing. 

James’ extensive experience has covered a range of sectors including corporate, sports, forensic, medical, and education settings. He is skilled in psychological interventions, supervision and coaching, and works with athletes and others in high-demand areas. In addition, James offers skills in neuropsychology including clinical assessment and diagnosis.

James is a published author on evidence-based sports psychology and has been featured in Stuff, in international podcasts such as The Sport Psych Show, and has presented at national conferences. In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of Clinical Psychology in Aotearoa New Zealand, James was awarded a Fellowship by the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.

James heralds from Ireland and outside of his work enjoys spending time at home in the beautiful Otago landscape with his chooks and dogs. James is based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
