Dr Alexa Curtis

Consultant Clinical Psychologist


Alexa (she/her) is an experienced clinician supporting individuals and groups, including offering professional supervision, training, assessment, and brief intervention. She has special interests in trauma support, ADHD assessment and forensic psychology.

Alexa offers many years of experience in mental health and wellbeing. She has expertise in a range of evidence-based psychological treatment approaches, such as CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused therapy. Alexa also conducted research with Massey University into non-verbal indicators of emotion, exploring how training and clinical experience can impact recognition of emotional expression.


Alexa has worked for Ara Poutama Aotearoa, Department of Corrections, ACC, Massey University and with the Royal Commission of Inquiry into abuse in state care, providing wellbeing support to survivors during investigations.


Alexa's style is warm, authentic, and compassionate. She is sensitive to the effects of trauma and takes a strengths-based and holistic approach to her work. Alexa integrates physical and emotional health to optimise wellbeing.

When she's not working, Alexa loves spending time with her two grandchildren, dogs and cats. She is also passionate about travelling and has an interest in yoga. Alexa is based in Levin, Horowhenua.
