✓ We catch neurodivergence that shorter, lower-cost assessments can miss
✓ Specialist clinical psychologist assessments and psychiatrist medical consults
✓ A report that explains you, doesn't just label you
✓ We flag early if an assessment isn't right, so you can choose to discontinue and get a refund on remaining appointments
Available nationwide, no GP referral needed
$1,890 including GST for the full assessment. Add a psychiatrist medication package for $800. That is the whole price, start to finish. No surprises.
Plus, you only pay for the steps you go through. If you decide based on our clinician advice not to continue after your first appointment, you're refunded everything except $325*.
"I’m very pleased I trusted my instincts and went with this company rather than some of the cheaper alternatives out there, the experience provided was truly value for money.”
- Katey, assessed by Dr Amber McAllister
Will I be able to get ADHD medication?
Yes: If you are a suitable candidate for ADHD medication* you can book our psychiatrist treatment package.
Our psychiatrist package is a good option if your GP doesn't prescribe for ADHD or if you'd prefer a highly specialist doctor.
With our psychiatrist add-on option, you get:
✓ A full 60 minute consult with a specialist psychiatrist
✓ Start your agreed treatment plan that day
✓ Any scripts while you're under their care
✓ A complimentary 30 minute follow-up appointment
✓ a proper handover to your GP for your ongoing care
You can choose this add-on package when booking your assessment - for faster connection at the point of diagnosis - or decide later.
If you prefer and your GP Clinic offers the option to prescribe without psychiatrist involvement, we can also refer you back to them for prescribing without you having to pay for our psychiatrist package.
Our package is deliberately designed as one and done. Most people do not need ongoing psychiatric appointments once they are stable, and we would rather you did not pay for them. However, if you would like book further reviews with the psychiatrist, you are welcome to.
Check out our FAQ for more info, or get in touch to discuss which option could be right for you.
* i.e., you receive an ADHD diagnosis and there aren't any obvious contraindications.

What a lower-cost assessment can miss
At MindMatters, we aim to provide your assessment right, the first time. A shorter, lower cost assessment can miss:
-
When your traits are not textbook. Plenty of adults have masked or compensated for decades. High achievers. People told they cannot be ADHD because they did well at school. A single short appointment can misread these as a no.
-
When something else is going on. Anxiety, depression, trauma and sleep problems can all look like ADHD from the outside. Telling them apart is differential diagnosis, and it is what clinical psychologists spend years training in.
-
When the questionnaires mislead. Psychometric measures produce false positives and false negatives. They need someone trained to interpret them in context, not just score them. Clinical psychologists specialise in exactly this.
-
When the people who know you are not asked properly. Awareness of neurodivergence is still low. A partner or parent may not recognise traits they have lived alongside for years. A tick-box approach can fall short. Knowing how to ask, and how to weigh the answers, is a skill.
Being wrongly diagnosed is not a small thing. Neither is being sent away when you should not have been. Either way you are back at the start, and risk paying twice.
The cheapest assessment can be the one you only have to do once.
"I don't know how an ADHD diagnosis can be done in an hour by some other places." - Michael, MindMatters client
What happens after I book?
Our telehealth assessments provide a clear process and respectful assessment experience.
1. Initial consultation - This is a 30 min phone call to get you set up for your assessment and to try and determine if an assessment is right for you. You are sent some questionnaires beforehand, along with a form you can forward to up to two informants. Your clinician reviews this before your appointment, and discusses results along with targeted questions. If for any reason you choose not to proceed, you have the option to cancel and be refunded the rest (so end up paying $325).
2. Clinical interview - This is a 2 hr video session to understand your background and traits in detail, covering everything required by the Ministry of Health framework and international guidelines.
3. Diagnosis results - This is a 30 min video session to go over your personalised recommendations. A detailed report is provided within 1 business day (with a chance to review) along with any relevant post-diagnostic resources or referrals for support including ADHD medication.
Total cost $1,890 incl. GST completed over 3-4 weeks · All assessments include a comprehensive report · Psychiatrist treatment package $800 incl. GST.
