Dr Margaret Sandham

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Margaret (she/her) is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, registered nurse and established researcher. She has extensive clinical and academic experience, including many international publications and particular interests in adult neurodivergence, mental health and supporting health professionals.

Margaret assesses adults for ADHD, autism, and AuDHD (combined autism and ADHD). She also provides consultation to our organisational clients. Before becoming a psychologist, she worked as an intensive care nurse, giving her a unique understanding of the pressures faced by health professionals. Margaret since went on to do research into the wellbeing of healthcare workers. ​

Margaret has featured in national media, including Radio New Zealand and NewsHub. Outside of her mahi (work) with MindMatters Clinic, Margaret is an Associate Professor involved in clinical psychology training in New Zealand.​ She has written book chapters on her research interests in mental health, wellbeing, and outcome measurement. Margaret is also actively involved in ADHD research in Aotearoa New Zealand, including a study exploring the experiences of Māori with ADHD.​ 
 

Margaret has a warm and open style and is clear and calm to work with. She is non-judgemental, so people can share their quirks with her. She brings together current research, clinical knowledge and her own experience across the health sector to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care.

Born in New Zealand, Margaret has two children and a fox terrier. She enjoys spending weekends in the garden, bush or sea. Margaret is based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
