Harry Jones

Harry (he/they) is a thoughtful Clinical Psychologist on our team with a special interest in adult ADHD and autism assessment. He is drawn to providing genuinely therapeutic assessments, having seen the difference it can make when the focus is on increased self-understanding rather than a box-ticking exercise.

Harry assesses adults for autism, ADHD, and AuDHD (combined autism and ADHD) and is particularly passionate about supporting trans, non-binary and takatāpui clients. As a proud trans man himself, Harry brings lived experience alongside his clinical training, and his academic research explored the mental health and wellbeing of autistic transgender young people in Aotearoa New Zealand. If you’re trans, non-binary or takatāpui and would rather not spend the first half of your assessment explaining yourself, Harry may be a particularly good fit.

People who work with Harry describe him as consistent, collaborative and caring. He has a talent for communicating new ideas clearly and creating a comfortable, supportive environment.

Harry’s clinical experience spans neurodevelopmental assessment, youth mental health and adult mental health services, including work within a kaupapa Māori service that shaped his commitment to Te Tiriti and bicultural practice.

 

Outside of his psychology practice, Harry has a rare love of winter - he claims it makes for cosy crochet nights and chilly ocean swims! Harry is based in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
